Hotel Madness: The Final Four

Gadling Hotel Madness Final Four

With two rounds in the books, only the biggest, most annoying and burdensome hotel pet peeves remain in Gadling’s Hotel Madness tournament. The second round featured some of the tournament’s closest contests and featured one impressive upset. Resort fees squeaked by One-ply toilet paper by a mere 23 votes while the #7 seed Bad water pressure dumped cold water on Bad front desk service’s title hopes. We’re inching closer to crowning our champion and learning just which hotel nuisance bothers you the most.

I’ve been thinking a lot about hotel breakfast buffets lately. I plan to write an elaborate love letter to them in the near future, for they are glorious. In the interim, I just want to say that breakfast buffets are the best part of the hotel experience. No matter how ugly the bedspread is, how thin the walls are and how grimy the bathroom looks, all sins are forgiven when I enter the breakfast buffet. (more…)

I just returned from a road trip that took me from New York City down to Charleston, SC. Rather than hightail it down to the Lowcountry for the 28th Annual Oyster Festival, I decided to meander down with stops along the way to take in the sights. In a couple of weeks, you’ll be able to see my adventures down south in new Cruze-arati episodes. However, I also stopped at some hysterically bizarre roadside attractions that I just couldn’t resist and I’d love to share those experiences with you. "road trip" snacks "junk food" "fast food" travel I’m heading down to Charleston, SC later this week on a good ol’ fashioned road trip for a Cruze-arati shoot. It’s been a while since I did a multi-day road trip (I’ll be stopping along the way rather than plowing through to Charleston in one shot). Unlike trips involving flights, my road trip preparation is less about what to pack and more about what to eat. Road trip snacking is essential and one’s choice of foods-on-the-go is as personal as one’s preference in mates. (more…)
