When we travel, we love to share our experiences. Whether via blog posts, tweets, Facebook status updates or photo sharing apps, broadcasting experiences – particularly those involving travel and food – has become as much a part of life as, well, life itself. But is that a good thing? Does constantly live-sharing experiences diminish the experiences themselves? Watching this video for the new Evernote Food app left me feeling a bit overwhelmed by social media.

Don’t get me wrong; I share photos of my meals and tweet about my travels as much, if not more, than the next guy. I’m guilty of this. But something about this video – and the app itself – has me feeling that we might have reached a tipping point in social media.

OK, it’s really just one of my tweets that Olbermann mentioned and he pretty much butchered my name (that’s no way to treat a fellow Cornell alum, Keith). Skip ahead to the 1:50 mark to see Keith stumble through my missive. Nice to see one of my thoughts on the East Coast earthquake get some national coverage (assuming, of course, that anyone knows how to find Current TV on their cable box).

You simply don’t hear very many people complaining about the lack of new instruments being invented. Basically, since we electrified the guitar, we’ve been set with all of the instruments that humanity needs. Granted, converting turntables from music players to music makers was pretty ingenious, but it wasn’t necessarily the invention of an instrument. At this point, we’re set for making music. Yet, this week’s SkyMall Monday features the quintessential SkyMall instrument because it, of course, has lasers. Sit back and enjoy the melodious seduction of the Beamz Interactive Music System.

Earlier this month, I went to Los Angeles to film a video for SOYJOY’s “Real Take On” campaign. Well, the video is now live. Be sure to check it out above and also take a peek at the fancy “Real Take on Daycations” page that SOYJOY has put up on Facebook. Why not go ahead and Like SOYJOY on Facebook while you’re there? If you do, I might just give you a tasty snack the next time I see you.

In the meantime, play hooky from work, take a break from your everyday life and go on a daycation! Whether you call it a mental health day, a sanity break or just Wednesday, there’s plenty of fun to be had in your own hometown. You deserve it!

Few places have exceeded my lofty expectations the way the Galapagos did. My mind was blown on a daily basis as we swam sea lions, penguins and sharks (oh my!). I attached a ContourGPS HD camera to my snorkel mask before every swim and captured the wildlife that we saw. I through this video together from the hours of footage (I was pretty pruney that week). You can read a bit more on Gadling or just watch the video and let it speak for itself.

Denny’s – America’s Diner – recently introduced their Tour of America menu. The chain attempted to capture the essence of America’s diverse cuisines in seven dishes and three beverages. However, it’s not really a tour if you only order one meal. That simple thought led Gadling to send me to New Jersey with Erik Trinidad, food writer for the Huffington Post and creator of Fancy Fast Food, to sample Denny’s entire Tour of America menu. We ordered all ten items and took a trip around the United States without ever leaving our booth.

Were the dishes accurate representations of their regions? Does Hawaii deserve three dishes when it’s the 40th most populous state? Is eating that much food at Denny’s good for you?

Back in late May and early June, Jordana and I took a trip down to Ecuador. We had one jam-packed day in Quito and then an extraordinary week in the Galapagos exploring the islands, marveling at the wildlife and spending as much time barefoot as possible. It truly is one of those places that actually exceeds the hype.

After much procrastination and a great deal of work, I’ve finally edited and posted our photos and begun to stitch together the videos that I shot. You can see a menagerie of animals getting funky in the video above. Perhaps more importantly, you can now view all of our photographs.

Bigfoot. Sasquatch. Yeti. Whatever you call it, you’ve most certainly heard tales of an ape-like creature that lives in the woods. Is it the missing link? Is it a prehistoric beast that defied extinction? Or, is it simply a myth with a few ardent believers? I ventured to the woods of Whidbey Island in Washington State to attempt to find out for myself. I met up with Paul Graves, a Sasquatch expert, part of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization and a man who has dedicated his life to studying and searching for this seemingly mythical animal.

I, of course, am already the father of a yeti. Granted, he’s a SkyMall product who I’ve forced to bake brownies, but he’s mine and I love him. That said, I wanted to find the real thing.

At his cabin in the woods, Paul showed me the tools of the trade: night-vision and thermal goggles, cameras and, perhaps most important of all, patience. We searched for tracks, belted out Sasquatch screams and waited. And waited. Watch the video to see if we had any luck and check out the photos from my day with Paul. And, listen to all of Paul’s Bigfoot song, “Jim Henry.”

I thought I was afraid of snakes. I honestly did. Ever since I saw Indiana Jones as a kid. If Indy was scared of snakes, surely I must be, too. So, leading up to my trip to Sweetwater, TX for the World’s Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up, I was nervous. I knew I would be hunting for rattlesnakes, standing in snake pits and milking them for their venom. Indiana Jones would not approve. A funny thing happened once I got to Sweetwater, though. It turns out that I’m a pretty confident snake hunter…even if I do look completely awkward in Kevlar snake chaps.

After the hunt, I hung out at the round-up to weigh my catch, check out all the snake-related activities (Ms. Snake Charmer yodeled) and chow down on some fresh rattlers. You can see all of that in the video below. And you can also see all of my fanged photos here.
